About Momentum One
Momentum One is a gym and fitness management platform built for owners running more than one facility. Instead of stitching together separate tools for bookings, staff, and access control, it gives every location its own secure space inside one shared system. Divtechnosoft partnered with the Momentum One team from the ground up, architecting the database, the role structure, and the booking logic the entire product runs on.
The Challenge
Most gym owners running multiple locations were stuck patching together spreadsheets, generic booking tools, and manual staff schedules. None of these talked to each other, and none of them understood that a trainer at one facility shouldn't automatically have access to another. Momentum One needed a system built for multi-location operations from day one, not a single-gym tool retrofitted to work for a chain.
Challenges Faced
Four problems shaped most of the engineering decisions on this project.
Multi-Tenancy & Data Isolation
Every facility's data members, bookings, staff needed to stay completely separate from every other facility, even though they all run on the same infrastructure. Getting that isolation right without slowing the app down took careful schema and policy design.
Complex Role Management
Super admins, facility admins, trainers, and members all needed different levels of access and those levels had to change depending on which facility a person was working with, not just who they were.
Real-Time Booking System
Class bookings had to handle capacity limits, lock-in periods, and cut-off times, all while multiple members tried to book the same class at once without double-booking a spot.
Class Scheduling Logic
Recurring classes needed to support one-off exceptions a substitute trainer, a cancelled session, a holiday schedule without breaking the recurring pattern underneath.
Our Development Roadmap
The build moved through four phases, from architecture to a live mobile app.
Architecture & Planning
Mapped out the multi-tenant architecture, database schema, and full role hierarchy before writing any product code.
Backend Development
Built the Supabase backend, including row-level security policies, RPCs, and the booking logic everything else depends on.
Web Platform
Built the Next.js admin dashboards, using React Query to keep booking and facility data current in real time.
Mobile Apps
Built the Expo mobile apps for members and trainers, with offline support for gyms with unreliable connectivity.

Multi-Tenant Architecture
Row-level security in Supabase keeps every facility's data isolated, without needing a separate database per client.
Advanced Booking System
Booking logic accounts for capacity, validation rules, and live updates, so two members can't accidentally claim the same class spot.
Role-Based Access Control
Permissions are scoped to each facility, so a trainer or admin only sees and manages the locations they're actually assigned to.
Class Management
Recurring class schedules support trainer assignments and one-off overrides, so a single cancelled class doesn't mean rebuilding the calendar.

Smart Booking System
Members book classes in real time, with capacity limits, lock-in windows, and cut-off times enforced automatically.
Real-Time Admin Dashboards
Live dashboards show bookings, attendance, and facility utilization as they happen, not after a manual export.
Billing & Invoicing
Automated billing cycles, localized invoicing, and payment status tracking built to support subscription tiers and one-off class payments.
Membership Scoping
Complex access control scoped to membership tiers. For example, a member with a HIIT membership can only book and access HIIT sessions, blocking unauthorized entry to cardio classes, steam rooms, or other premium amenities.

What We Learned
A few lessons stood out after shipping a multi-tenant platform this complex.
RLS is Critical for Multi-Tenancy
Supabase's row-level security handled data isolation cleanly, without pushing that logic into the application layer where it's easier to get wrong.
Booking Logic is Complex
Concurrent bookings, capacity limits, and time-based rules needed more careful state management than a typical CRUD feature.
Role Hierarchies Need Flexibility
Not every gym chain organizes its staff the same way, so the permission system needed room to flex rather than a fixed hierarchy.
Real-Time Updates Matter
Live booking updates turned out to matter more for user trust than expected — members stopped worrying about double-booked classes.
